Antioxidants. You’ve seen them mentioned all over social media, they're in your favorite health and beauty products and the pandemic has brought them front and center again as the go-to for immune support. But what are they exactly and where can you get them aside from the red, blue and orange fruits and veggies? Do you really need a supplement? To answer those questions and really understand how they fit into the big picture of your overall wellness plan it’s important to understand what they actually are, how they function, why you need them, how your own body makes them....AND how you can actually test to see if you're getting enough. In this episode you'll learn the SCIENCE of free radicals, the meaning of oxidation and oxidative stress and four different antioxidants your body makes all on it's own with the support of those tiny little building blocks called essential amino acids.   1. Starting today, set a  regular sleep time and stick to it even on the weekends! Sleep disruption directly impacts antioxidant production!
  2. Reduce and/or eliminate artificial and refined sugars. Replace with natural sugars found in  berries of every color.
  3. Start incorporating more spices and foods that are rich in cysteine and the essential and non-essential amino acids.
